Aug 21, 2026 Job Description Baxter Academy invites applications for a full-time Mandarin Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Baxter Academy for Technology and Science is a tuition-free Maine public college and career preparatory charter school with a curricular focus on invention, innovation, and STEM. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach the full range of Mandarin courses from introductory classes through Advanced Placement (AP), and to support student with varying levels of language proficiency. Baxter educators hold high expectations for all students, emphasize authentic performance assessment, and engage in real research alongside students. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to: Hold a valid Teacher Certification Hold a valid Maine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) Ability to teach Mandarin Chinese from beginner to Advanced Placement (AP) Design and implement engaging lesson plans that support student across a range of proficiency levels Foster proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through effective second-language practices Adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles, including those of students with disabilities or other specialize learning needs Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management strategies, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment Commitment to high expectations and meaningful learning for all students Communicate regular with students and families regarding student progress Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
