Bilingual (English/Spanish) both literacy and oral proficiency Honest work ethic Strong academic skills Desire to serve the LEP and migrant populations Excellent communications skills Willingness to be a team player

KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Translate for teacher/parent conferences Interpret for PTA/PTO meetings Translate newsletters, school notes, and other written communication sent to Spanish speaking community members Initiates and provides support for establishing and coordinating parent involvement activities at the school and district levels Conduct workshops and training sessions for parents of English Language Learning students Help English Language Learning children and families transition to Kindergarten Translates documents and communications into Spanish to be shared with parents and other Spanish speaking community members Serves as a liaison from English as a Second Language Program on the District Parent Advisory Committees Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Exert a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Due to amount of time spent standing and/or walking, requirements are consistent with those for light work.

ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED from regionally or nationally accredited institution Must possess a NC driver's license
