Principal Job Goal:
To motivate each pupil to develop competencies, knowledge, and skills in aurally comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing a foreign language, in accordance with each pupils ability; to interpret to pupils the culture of the countries where foreign language is spoken, to discover and develop special talents of pupils in communicating in the foreign language.
Performance Responsibilities:
Teach skills and knowledge in the assigned foreign language instruction to Middle and High School pupils, utilizing the curriculum/bilingual curriculum adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. Modern Foreign Language teachers teach aural comprehensive, speaking, reading and writing. Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy. Provide learning experiences which develop the basic communication skills, utilizing tape recorders and other electronic equipment as appropriate. Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. Instruct pupils in safe operation of electronic equipment used in language instruction. Make minor adjustments and request repairs as required. Develop pupil understanding and appreciation of culture and countries where the studied language is spoken. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Evaluate each pupil's progress in aural comprehensive, speaking, reading, and writing the foreign language in relationship to the level being taught. Select and requisition books, instructional aides and instructional supplies, and maintain required inventory records. Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly or sooner as the need arises, on student's progress and behavior. Identify pupil's needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned. Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs and implements EPSS. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities to include in and out of school activities. Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities, such as Spanish language workshops. Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines. Administer Group Standardized tests in accordance with district testing program. Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Foreign Language. Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee. Perform all other assigned tasks required of the supervisor (s).
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT
Term of employment is to be established on an annual basis, through the adoption of the school calendar.
SALARY:
Salary to be established on an annual basis, through the adoption of the salary schedules.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
