Full-Time / Exempt Reports to : Building Principal About Elmwood Village Charter School The Elmwood Village Charter Schools provide a stimulating and engaging learning environment that recognizes student capability, fosters their connectedness to their immediate and broader communities, and offers them ways to contribute to school life. EVCS believes that all students can and will learn at high levels when provided with the right learning conditions. The Role We are looking for a dedicated and creative Middle School Spanish Teacher who is passionate about urban education. As a Middle School Teacher at EVCS, you will be responsible for creating an engaging, inclusive, and challenging learning environment. You will facilitate instruction across your subject area while supporting the social-emotional growth of your students. Key Responsibilities Instructional Excellence Curriculum Delivery:
Develop and implement rigorous, standards-aligned lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Student Engagement:
Utilize innovative teaching strategies, project-based learning, and hands-on activities to foster a love for your subject area.
Differentiation:
Regularly analyze student performance data to tailor instruction, providing targeted intervention for struggling students and enrichment for those ready for a challenge.
Assessment:
Design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure progress and inform instructional adjustments.
Classroom & Community Positive Culture:
Establish a structured, safe, and respectful classroom environment that encourages academic risk-taking and positive peer interactions.
Character Development:
Integrate the school's core values into daily interactions and classroom routines.
Family Partnership:
Maintain proactive, consistent communication with families regarding student progress, behavioral growth, and classroom happenings.
Professional Collaboration Teamwork:
Participate actively in grade-level meetings, department professional learning communities (PLCs), and school-wide staff meetings.
Reflective Practice:
Engage in regular cycles of planning and data analysis, receive feedback from instructional coaches, and participate in ongoing professional development to refine teaching practice. Qualifications & Requirements Certification:
Possession of a valid New York State Teaching Certification in the appropriate grade level/subject area (or eligibility for reciprocity).
Education:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or the relevant content area. (Masters degree preferred).
Experience:
Proven experience working with middle school-aged students preferred; experience in urban education or charter school settings is highly valued.
Collaboration:
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented school environment.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation and parent outreach, an ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
