Position:
Evening Instructor - ESL, GED, and/or
SHSAT Location :
IS 10 middle school,
Astoria, New York Schedule :
Flexible evenings (2-3 days per week or more)
Compensation :
$28/hr We are seeking passionate and committed teachers to join our evening adult and youth education program. Whether you specialize in English as a Second Language (ESL), General Education Development (GED), or SHSAT prep, we invite you to bring your talents to our community- based program in Long Island City.
Subjects Needed:
 ESL (Beginner to Intermediate Levels)  GED Prep (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts)  SHSAT Prep (Math and ELA)
Responsibilities:
 Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with learning goals  Adapt instruction to meet the needs of adult or middle school learners  Monitor student progress and provide feedback and support  Maintain accurate attendance and progress records  Create a welcoming and respectful classroom environment  Collaborate with program coordinators to support student success
Qualifications:
 Experience teaching ESL, GED, or SHSAT prep (at least 1 year preferred)  Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills  Culturally responsive and able to work with diverse learners  Bilingual a plus ( especially Spanish, Bengali, or Arabic)
Ideal Candidates:
 Teachers, retired educators, or graduate students in education  Available at least two or three evening per week (more days welcome!)  Passionate about equity, empowerment, and second-chance education
