Job Description
POSITION TITLE/BUILDING
Anticipated ELL Teacher/TBD/Grades 6-12CERTIFICATION:
NYS certification in ENL/ESL (or eligibility for certification) or World Language Teacher certificationEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Skill in scaffolding grade-level content to make it accessible for multilingual learners
- Ability to integrate language development (listening, speaking, reading, writing) into content instruction
- Experience using data (e.g., NYSESLAT, formative assessments) to drive instruction and monitor progress
- Ability to effectively co-plan and co-teach with general education teachers
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and assessments to meet diverse language needs
- Strong communication skills to support staff understanding of language acquisition strategies
- Commitment to culturally responsive teaching practices
- Ability to build strong relationships with students from diverse backgrounds
