Primary Purpose:
Provide students with high-quality, TEKS-aligned learning experiences that support their intellectual, emotional, and social development while promoting engagement, progress, and course completion in a virtual learning environment. Deliver instruction through a structured model that includes synchronous and asynchronous learning, small-group intervention, and ongoing communication with students and families, using data-driven practices to monitor performance, provide timely feedback, and ensure all students develop the skills necessary for academic success and post-secondary readiness.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university Master's degree from an accredited university preferred Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
Current ESL Certification:
ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of subject matter, curriculum, and instruction aligned to TEKS in the assigned content area. Understanding of instructional strategies for both synchronous and asynchronous virtual learning environments. Ability to deliver whole-group and small-group instruction based on student needs and performance data. Ability to monitor student progress and adjust instruction using data-driven practices. Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and digital communication tools. Ability to engage students and build relationships in a virtual learning environment Ability to implement accommodations and modifications for diverse learners, including special education, 504, and multilingual students. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom, or virtual, teaching experience preferred Experience integrating technology into instruction Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve a diverse population of students, including those receiving special education, 504, multilingual, and other support services. Establish and maintain professional relationships and ongoing communication with students, families, colleagues, and administrators. Plan, develop, and build online lessons/experiences, including materials, content, and resources in accordance with campus expectations. Maintain regular communication with students and families regarding academic progress, engagement, and support needs. Monitor student engagement, participation, and progress, and provide timely intervention and support as needed. Maintain accurate and timely records related to student performance, communication, and interventions. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to address student needs and improve outcomes. Participate in required meetings, professional learning, and program activities. Comply with district, state, and federal policies, including FERPA and virtual program requirements. Support student success by promoting accountability, engagement, and course completion. Model professionalism and adhere to district expectations, including the Alief ISD Code of Civility. Maintain an acceptable attendance rate - 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies). Comply with state and federal laws, district policies, rules, regulations and administrative directives as they exist or may hereafter be amended. Instructional Strategies Deliver TEKS-aligned instruction using a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instructional methods. Plan and implement lesson plans that meet district and state requirements and reflect student needs and learning styles. Provide whole-group virtual instruction and record sessions to support student access and flexibility. Design and implement small-group instruction based on student performance data to provide targeted support and intervention. Use a variety of instructional strategies, digital tools, and resources to promote student engagement and understanding. Differentiate instruction and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications for diverse learners, including special education, 504, and multilingual students. Diagnose student learning needs and adjust instruction based on assessment data and performance trends. Provide structured opportunities for student interaction, collaboration, and participation in a virtual learning environment. Utilize the learning management system (LMS) to organize content, assignments, and communication in a clear and accessible manner. Student Growth and Development Monitor student progress using assessment data, course performance, and engagement indicators. Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and maintain accurate records of progress and performance. Provide timely, meaningful feedback to support student learning and improvement Identify students in need of additional support and implement targeted interventions, including small-group instruction. Maintain regular communication with students and families regarding academic progress and support needs. Support student goal setting, accountability, and successful course completion. Administer state and district assessments in accordance with testing requirements. Classroom Management and Organization Create and maintain a structured, supportive, and engaging virtual learning environment that promotes student participation and success. Establish clear expectations for student behavior, communication, and participation in alignment with district guidelines and the Student Code of Conduct. Monitor student engagement and participation during virtual instruction and proactively intervene when students disengage. Maintain consistent routines for instruction, communication, assignments, and feedback. Organize course content, assignments, and communication within the learning management system (LMS) to ensure clarity and accessibility. Foster a positive and respectful virtual classroom culture that supports collaboration and student interaction. Ensure a safe and appropriate virtual learning environment in accordance with district expectations. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Professional Growth and Development Participate in required professional development activities to improve job-related skills and instructional effectiveness. Complete required onboarding, virtual instruction training, and program-specific professional learning. Engage in ongoing coaching, feedback cycles, and instructional improvement processes. Participate in data-review meetings, instructional planning sessions, and collaborative team activities. Comply with state, district, and campus policies, procedures, and professional expectations. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain proficiency with instructional technology and digital tools required for virtual instruction. Support development and refinement of virtual course content when assigned Maintain appropriate professional conduct and adhere to district expectations Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directs the work of any assigned instructional aide(s). Evaluation Performance in this role is evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of teachers on the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).

Probationary contract - 187 days plus 4 days of Alief U professional development for a teacher new to the district 2025-2026 Salary Schedule Minimum teacher salary is $66,500 (base $64,100 + $2,400 Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) Stipend) Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days, the salary will be less.
