Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Invest in the future by providing young believers with engaging, hands-on, student-centered instruction from a Christian worldview in undergraduate courses (both lecture and lab) in the biology major. This position focuses on, but is not limited to, plant biodiversity, animal biodiversity, field biology, comparative anatomy & physiology, and ecology. A candidate with a Ph.D. in an organismal biology field or related discipline, such as veterinary medicine, horticultural science, or ecology, is desired. The faculty member will join a diverse but unified team of passionate, undergraduate-focused scholars who are committed to excellence in propelling young Christian biologists into careers and graduate studies in biology.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentoring and advising students in the biological sciences who are interested in veterinary school, zoology, and wildlife biology Teaching biology courses related to area(s) of expertise Teaching other assigned courses and labs in general biology topics
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent communication skills Commitment to developing a conceptual and principle-based approach to teaching Commitment to a biblically consistent view of science, as articulated in the philosophy statement of the BJU Division of Natural Science Exemplification of a biblical role model for students and colleagues Willingness to attend the Summer Institute in Teaching Science, an on-site professional development program College classroom teaching experience preferred An applicant must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
