Job Description

JOB Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering 170+ high-quality programs that connect students to a career in as little as one to two years. Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the General Education Pathway, or designee, to develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. Will require teaching courses in-person at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and/or online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities. Manage the classroom/laboratory. Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation. Manage equipment, supplies and materials. Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues. Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area. Attend departmental and institutional meetings. Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC. Support student organizations and activities. Develop relationships with business and industry. Complete program evaluation and follow-up. Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Start Date:
This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the fall semester; approximately mid-August 2026. This is a part-time faculty pool position. This is an "applicant pool" posting. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin. We are seeking candidates with flexibility to teach assignments to include any combination of the following:
Instructional Modality:
In-person (primarily for this position), online, and/or hybrid
Teaching Times:
Daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes
Salary:
The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. Interview:
As part of the interview process, selected candidates are required to prepare and present an interactive theory lesson and simulated teaching demonstration lasting 10 minutes of the overall interview time, which may be conducted in-person or virtually.
