JOB DESCRIPTION
Dean College's School of Liberal Arts and Sciences is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis during the Fall 2026 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds. We are seeking an adjunct instructor for PSY-118: Applied Behavior Analysis. PSY-118 is a 3-credit class that meets for 2.5 hours/week. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Psychology program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College. The course description is as follows: This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Students will explore the philosophical foundations of behaviorism, key concepts of behavior analysis, and the application of these principles in various settings. The course covers fundamental elements such as reinforcement, punishment, stimulus control, and verbal behavior. Students will learn about assessment techniques, data collection, and the design of behavior change interventions. Emphasis will be placed on ethical considerations in ABA practice and its applications in areas such as education, healthcare, and organizational behavior management.
Pre-requisite:
PSY 111 There is one PSY-118 section available. It is scheduled to run as an asynchronous online class.
REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in psychology or a related field is required; PhD in a related discipline is preferred. Experience teaching at the college level in person is required; experience teaching first- and second-year undergraduates is preferred. Strong computer skills is required. Experience in using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required. Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required. Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required. Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required. Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
