Immediately Job Description Position Overview The Middle School Business Education Teacher will provide instruction in business, finance, and information technology that builds students' digital literacy, personal financial awareness, and career readiness in alignment with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and CTE standards. This position supports Northampton County Schools' mission to prepare all students to be college, career, and life ready. Position Details

Principal (with collaboration from CTE Director or designee)

Salary:
Based on the North Carolina State Teacher Salary Schedule plus applicable Northampton County Schools local supplement, commensurate with licensure and experience. Licensure and Qualifications Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator License in Business, Finance, and Information Technology Education or other appropriate CTE/Business licensure area as approved by the NC State Board of Education. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Education, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a closely related field that meets North Carolina licensure requirements. Strong knowledge of middle grades business and technology concepts, including computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations), digital literacy, personal finance, and career exploration. Demonstrated proficiency with classroom technology, including computers, instructional software, and learning management systems. Effective communication, classroom management, and organizational skills; ability to build positive relationships with middle school students and families.
Preferred:
Teaching experience at the middle or high school level and/or relevant business or industry experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess engaging instruction aligned with North Carolina
CTE/BFIT
middle grades standards and Northampton County Schools curriculum. Teach students foundational skills in keyboarding, computer applications, digital citizenship, personal finance, entrepreneurship, and career awareness. Integrate real-world business and technology applications, project-based learning, and career connections to prepare students for high school CTE pathways and future employment. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of middle school learners. Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies and use results to adjust instruction and support student growth. Technology, Career, and College Readiness Model and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of technology, including responsible online behavior and data privacy. Expose students to careers in business, finance, information technology, and related fields, including local and regional opportunities where appropriate. Collaborate with school counselors and CTE staff to help students understand course options and pathways available in Northampton County Schools' high school programs. Classroom Management and Collaboration Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and active engagement. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and ways to support learning at home. Collaborate with grade-level teams, elective/CTE colleagues, and administrators to support school-wide initiatives and student success. Participate in MTSS, IEP, and 504 processes as needed to support students with identified needs. Professionalism and Compliance Maintain accurate and timely records for grades, attendance, lesson plans, and any required CTE documentation. Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, and comply with Northampton County Schools policies, procedures, and professional standards. Participate in required professional development, faculty meetings, and CTE/technology training as directed by the district and school. Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct at all times. Working Conditions Work is performed in a classroom and computer lab setting with frequent use of computers and other instructional technology. May require occasional after-school time for parent conferences, school events, or professional development.
