Position Overview:
The MBA programs at Sofia University are seeking to fill a core faculty & academic support position with a faculty who has a strong ability to facilitate learning for our students in all areas of business administration. Areas of focus include and are not limited to Business Communications, Decision Making, Business Ethics, Business Law, Finance, Operations, Marketing, and Information Systems. Additional topics areas include data analytics, AI in Business, global team and business leadership, change management, transpersonal psychology, organizational development, and organizational behavior. Additionally, this position requires strong leadership skills in an academic environment. The Lead Core Faculty member will serve as an instructional leader and subject matter expert for the selected program curriculum within the BSBA and/or MBA programs. This individual will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise and mentor other faculty members, and contribute to the overall growth and development of the program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business leadership, excellent teaching skills, and a passion for fostering student success.
Responsibilities:
Teach courses, dependent on student demand, that have both residential and online components. For residential activities, faculty will need to be on campus at either Palo Alto or Costa Mesa campuses. Online-only classes can be taught remotely. Courses are 10 weeks quarterly, required to facilitate on-campus materials focused on student-centered learning three times per quarter. Build positive and supportive relations focused on student success while maintaining policy and regulations Provide substantive and ongoing feedback to students Take weekly attendance promptly, no later than midnight Sunday PST Ensure all grading is done within 72 hours of the due date of assignments Engage constructively in course discussions with students Meet with students about course materials as needed Manage mid-quarter reviews promptly Finalize course grades by the date due Comfortable reporting student issues to the Chair Prepare courses one week before the start of the quarter A collaborative and team-oriented approach is necessary while working closely with the Department Chair and colleagues Participate in monthly program meetings Serve on two University-wide governance committees Lead special projects as assigned by the program Chair. Take the lead on an academic support process to help ensure student and program success as determined by the program Chair.
Qualifications:
Earned a graduate-level degree with a 3.0 cgpa or higher in a relevant field A minimum of 5 years of graduate-level teaching experience is required or 7 years of undergraduate teaching experience and at least 5 years of relevant work experience or 10 years of relevant experience with an undergraduate degree Experience with LMS software for facilitating online classes, Canvas preferred Familiarity with best practices for student-centered learning models Professionalism and ability to work with faculty and students respectfully, and honor all diversity and identity across the University Ability to manage questions and critical responses to materials, text, and layout of courses in a positive, productive, forward-moving way Excellent communication and presentation skills Experience working with international students is a plus
