Job Description:
The Division of Natural and Physical Sciences invites applications for a part-time Organic Chemistry Laboratory Instructor to teach undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory sections during the upcoming academic term, Fall 2026, during the following times:
M:
1:00 ? 5:00 pm ;
W:
1:00 ? 5:00 pm The successful candidate will be responsible for leading laboratory instruction, supporting student learning in organic chemistry techniques, maintaining a safe and inclusive laboratory environment, and coordinating with the course/lab coordinator and chemistry faculty. Responsibilities The Organic Chemistry Lab Instructor will: Teach assigned undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory sections. Prepare students for laboratory activities through brief pre-lab instruction and demonstrations. Supervise students during experiments and ensure proper laboratory safety practices. Grade lab reports, quizzes, notebooks, and other assignments in a timely manner. Provide constructive feedback to students. Communicate regularly with the course instructor, lab coordinator, and department leadership. Follow established laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and departmental expectations. Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of laboratory materials as needed. Be Familiar with common organic chemistry techniques such as reflux, distillation, extraction, recrystallization, chromatography, melting point analysis, spectroscopy, and reaction workup.
Requirements:
MS in Chemistry, PhD in Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry preferred, but not necessary, with appropriate teaching experience.
