Job Description:
Function of Position:
Students will support chemistry staff in the day-to-day operations of the laboratory while gaining hands-on experience in a lab setting. This includes learning basic laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and proper use of glassware in a chemistry lab environment, as well as developing critical thinking skills to interpret and solve chemical problems in support of their academic and career goals. This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintenance of general condition of the laboratory, prep room, and stock room areas. Setting up and switching out weekly experiments. Calibration and maintenance of equipment.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community College Must maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standing Current or past enrollment of a chemistry course. Federal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
