Job Description

Qualifications and Experience The successful candidate must possess at minimum, from a recognised university: a PhD or equivalent Doctoral Degree, which should be in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a closely related discipline OR An MBBS/MD or equivalent medical qualification, with postgraduate training in Medical Genetics or Molecular Medicine Candidates should also possess: Postdoctoral research experience in Molecular Biology, Genomics, or Clinical Genetics Evidence of scholarly productivity (peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, grants, or curriculum development) Medical Genetics and Molecular Biology Foundations Genomics and sequencing technologies (whole genome, exome) Candidates with the following would have an advantage: Evidence of effective teaching or capacity to teach at undergraduate or postgraduate level Experience supervising laboratory sessions and mentoring students in clinical or research contexts Ability to deliver content in both face-to-face and online modalities Chromosomal Abnormalities and Cytogenetics (Karyotyping, FISH) The following would be considered assets: Certificate in university teaching and learning Certificate in medical ethics or communication skills for doctors Prior teaching experience in an accredited medical programme At least three (3) years' teaching and/or research experience in Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology or Medical Genetics Experience with simulation-based education or OSCE station design Prior involvement in international collaborations or cross-border medical education initiatives Demonstrated expertise in Medical Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Applied Genomics Familiarity with CAAM-HP, LCME, or other international accreditation standards Multifactorial inheritance, Complex Diseases, and Epigenetics Clinical genetics, genetic counseling, and ethical /legal/ social implications (ELSI) Candidates should be registered or be eligible to be registered with the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago. Key Responsibilities Delivering lectures, case-based discussions, and supervision of laboratory sessions in Bbiochemistry/Molecular Biology and Medical Genetics Developing and updating course materials aligned with North American MD standards and CAAM-HP accreditation requirements Assessing student performance through OSCEs, written exams, and practical evaluations Supervising laboratory activities including DNA extraction, PCR, karyotyping, and sequencing analysis Facilitating group discussions on controversial topics (e.g., CRISPR, direct-to-consumer genetic testing) Mentoring students in clinical application of genetics and counseling techniques Contributing to curriculum development, faculty meetings, and accreditation readiness activities Personal Attributes The Campus places high priority on individuals of integrity who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Compensation Basic Salary:
Lecturer (Non-Medical)•TT$ 254,136.00 per annum
Benefits:
Transportation Allowance•TT$39,000.00 per annum Housing Allowance•20% of basic salary The appointment is for a fixed term, beginning 2026 July 01 and ending no later than 2027 July 31.
