Job Description

This position is responsible for developing a comprehensive program for the training of student-athletes to maximize their potential for athletic performance and injury prevention; collaborating with coaches and athletic trainers to organize and design strength, power, speed, agility, and flexibility programs for student-athletes; maintaining safety, hygiene, and efficiency of the weight facility; supervising individual and team workouts; displaying a positive attitude, demonstrating enthusiasm, providing positive energy, and communicating effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Teaching/Coaching (51%) Develop and implement individualized strength & conditioning programs for student-athletes in assigned sports programs; Implement all comprehensive programs and provide instructions to student-athletes; Independently manage, supervise, and control the day-to-day operations of the weight room used by the sports programs assigned; Supervise training sessions and teach proper lifting techniques; Preform all warm-up and cool-down activities for student-athletes at games and practices; Educate student-athletes on proper nutrition and rest and recovery; Educate student-athletes on proper physical and mental health, and monitor their progress; Run multiple team workouts throughout the year; Provide individual instructions and sessions to student-athletes. Administration (49%) Attend meetings with alumni and enhance public relations as needed; Travel with the sports teams; Maintain oversight of program budget(s) as needed; Perform regular inspections and recommendations on repairs/replacements as necessary; Communicate compatibly and cooperatively with other staff, coaches, student-athletes, and personnel within the division; Maintain the strength and conditioning facility, and establish policies and procedures for its safe operation; Maintain adherence to NCAA, ASUN, UAC, and university rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes; Support the philosophy, goals, and mission of both the University and its intercollegiate athletics programs; Assist with cultivating and soliciting donors, as needed; Perform all other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Other responsibilities as assigned in an administrative capacity - these may include a community outreach program for student-athletes and organizing a program that encourages former athletic alumni to support the department.
ATHLETICS ADDENDUM
As the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the University of North Alabama, you will be expected to comply with all NCAA and Conference rules and regulations and with the provisions of gender equity as specified by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. You are required to participate in an annual review of relevant Conference and NCAA rules and regulations governing your position responsibilities. You are expected to advise the Athletics Director if you are aware of any violation of NCAA/conference rules or regulations in the University's athletics program. Violation of NCAA/Conference rules or regulations shall subject you to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures and as required by Section 11.2 of the NCAA Manual. Further, you may be terminated or disciplined for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the institution has violated an NCAA rule or regulation. You shall also be subject to disciplinary action for violation of any University rules, policies, regulations, or the provisions of Title IX pursuant to the policies and procedures governing University staff employees. Bachelor's degree is required; Minimum of three years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach, including technique instructions and program design, required; Three or more years of collegiate experience, preferred; Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations, preferred; Experience with supervision of staff is preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS
Current, valid driver's license in good standing is required; Certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program, is required; First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, renewed annually, is required.
