Job Description

The assistant coach will aide in conducting the athletic program in accordance with policies and procedures of the Alabama Junior and Community College Conference, the National Junior College Athletic Association, and the College.
Salary:
$5,000 early. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. A complete application consists of the following: An on-line application Current résumé Copy of college transcripts (Transcript of college work verifying degree requirement; must include degree awarded and date confirmed. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted before the deadline, but official transcripts must be received if employed.) Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications. Recruit qualified student-athletes that will represent the College in a positive and competitive manner. Assist the athletic program coordinator in preparing an appropriate budget request for the athletic program. Administer the athletic budget in a responsible manner under the direction of the athletic program coordinator. Requisition, purchase, inventory, and maintain equipment and supplies according to budgetary restraints. Prepare an appropriate schedule of games or matches according to conference policies. Recommend scholarship awards for appropriate student-athletes and student-managers to the Athletic program coordinator. Coordinate travel, lodging and meals with the advice and consent of the athletic program coordinator. Assist in maintenance of the athletic facilities of the College. Stress to each student-athlete the priority of academics above athletics. Attend required meetings as called by the AJCCC and the College. Conduct himself/herself at all times in a manner that reflects positively on the team and the institution. Assume full responsibility for operation of his/her assigned athletic program(s). EXPERIENCE
At least two-years coaching experience in an educational setting is required . Head coaching experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated expertise in subject specialty. Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently. Ability to deal effectively with students, other employees, and the public. Commitment to all students, including those of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Understanding of basic computer skills. Ability to coordinate and assist in coaching the softball team. Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise student athletes. Knowledge of appropriate safety rules and regulations. Knowledge of current coaching methods, collegiate eligibility standards, first aid, and sports medicine practices.
