Basketball Coach Hermitage School District The Hermitage Basketball Coach directs the Basketball players and the assistant Basketball coach. From game preparations to the actual game, the coach provides guidance and instructions to help the team succeed. They are to implement game plans and training programs designed by the coach, hold team meetings with the coach, and manage team members. In addition to game-related activities, coaches are responsible for managing and participating in outreach programs, hosting/participating in sports camps, and organizing team-building sessions on or off the field. When an individual player needs additional coaching, the coach is there to encourage the player's growth and success in all areas of their school experience. The coach must have strong discipline, patience, good sportsmanship, and strong management and leadership skills. Since the coach works with a team and other sports professionals, the coach must also display excellent interpersonal and communication skills across the district, schools, and community. Adheres to all matters involving the state and district policy Schedules practices, games, and officials Before all scheduled athletic events, the officials and opponents are confirmed for participation, and the time and location of the event. Ensures students have appropriate AAA physicals by the physician Ensures students adhere to drug policies as posted in the Student Handbook Establishes crew needed for games (Scorebook, chain crew, Development of practice and game plan with coaches Find workers for the scoreboard, clock, play clock, and announcer Ensure that the scoreboard, electronic equipment, and facility is in working order before the game day and are checked and operational for competition. Pre-game speaking / announcements typed out before the game Officials' offices or workspace is clean, and an ice chest of drinks for officials is prepared before the game Arranges for the recording of ballgames Ensure student workers are in place for the sport, including water Inputs information into the DragonFly AAA required reporting program Makes sure sports coaches are updated with certifications and professional development Works collaboratively with coaches to ensure a successful student sports program Organizing fundraisers and donations Adds advertisement of sponsors to the fencing of the field or auditorium where the sport is played Being able to navigate through Hudl Reporting score to the scorebook live Report any needed improvements to facility maintenance to the maintenance supervisor. Organize away-game travel forms, communication, and transportation, prepared with the Transportation Supervisor before the year and game competition dates. Follow all Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations Follow all Hermitage School District Policies, Handbooks, and Directives Be prepared for away games (Reserve bus, uniforms/equipment (Tents, large water jugs), first aid kits, AED, water, meals) Be prepared to teach classes in a major field of study within the district as assigned by administration, i.e., PE, Math, Science, or Literacy courses as needed by the district and licensure of the coach. Head Coaches are required to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in order to operate a school bus and transport student-athletes to and from practices, games, and events. This requirement is a condition of the coaching assignment and must be completed over the summer before the season begins. Other duties as assigned by the superintendent Positions are open until set expiration dates or until filled. At a minimum, employment eligibility requirements are to be over 18 and provide a driver's license and social security card or other eligibility documentation to work in the United States of America. Applicants for certified positions must have appropriate certification with the ADE, DESE, or be eligible to obtain such. All applicants must be willing to undergo background and child maltreatment checks and other screenings as required by the Hermitage School District.
