Los Alamitos Unified School District Los Alamitos Unified School District seeks qualified candidates for Boys Water Polo•Lower Level Head Coach at Los Alamitos High School. Under the direction of the program's Varsity Head Coach, a Lower Level Head Coach is responsible for supporting the overall vision of leadership, organization, supervision, and development of the high school athletic program in the assigned sport. Position Summary A Lower Level Head Coach leads the team they are assigned to, promotes student-athlete growth and sportsmanship, and ensures compliance with District, league, CIF, and applicable state requirements. Unlike an Assistant Coach, incumbents are responsible for serving as the primary point of contact for parent communications and concerns related to their team. Unlike a Varsity Head Coach, incumbents do not oversee the entire program, supervise other coaching staff, or resolve escalated parent complaints involving program-wide or multi-team issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide leadership for the team they are assigned to. Support the vision, culture, expectations, and standards for the sport's program. Supervise, support, and evaluate assistant coaches for their level in coordination with the Head Varsity Coach. Plan, organize, and conduct practices that align with and support the vision of the Head Varsity Coach Develop and implement instruction that supports skill development, teamwork, conditioning, sportsmanship, and character. Promote student participation and retention for the team they are assigned to. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families and the Varsity Head Coach Ensure team compliance with District policies, athletic handbook requirements, league rules, CIF bylaws, and applicable laws and regulations. Promote positive conduct, appropriate supervision, and student safety at practices, contests, travel, and team events. Serve as a positive role model and teach the principles of good sportsmanship, respect, citizenship, and competitive integrity. Knowledge of Rules, strategies, techniques, and conditioning methods for the assigned sport High school athletics program administration CIF, league, and District athletic regulations Student supervision, risk management, and safety practices Effective communication and leadership practices for high school athletics Ability to Lead and manage a high school team Build a positive, collaborative coaching culture for that team's assistant coaches Communicate clearly and professionally with parents, the varsity head coach, and diverse stakeholders Model professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated successful coaching experience in the assigned sport, preferably at the high school level Experience leading or coordinating athletic programs preferred Knowledge of adolescent development and appropriate coaching practices Ability to meet District and legal requirements for athletic coaching assignments Required Certifications/Clearances Prior to beginning service and throughout the assignment as required: CPR and First Aid certification Concussion certification/training Sudden Cardiac Arrest training Heat illness prevention training Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent approved training TB clearance Fingerprint/background clearance Any other certifications, trainings, or clearances required by law, CIF, or District policy Teaching Opportunities Credentialed candidates may be considered for available teaching positions or teaching sections at Los Alamitos High School. Placement in a teaching assignment will depend on current vacancies and sections available within the candidate's credentialed subject area.
Compensation Coaching stipend:
