Madera High School Head Cross Country Coach at Madera Unified School District Print Application Deadline Until Filled Date Posted 1/26/2026 Contact John Fernandez (559) 675-4444 1663 Number of Openings 1 Salary Pay dependent on experience Add'l Salary Info Based On Certificated Salary Schedule Length of Work Year 2025-2026 School Year Employment Type Part Time Job Summary Job Summary Hours per day: 2- 2 1/2 hoursDays per week : 5 days per weekEffective start date : April 6th, 2026Season date: June 8th 2026- November 30, 2026Effective end date: June 4th, 2027Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Serve as the Head Coach of the Cross Country program.

Develop a positive team culture and provide clear direction and vision for the boys' and girls' cross country programs.

Develop individual and team distance-running skill sets, techniques, and race strategies necessary for overall team success.

Create and communicate a team strategy; provide instruction to student-athletes in the consistent execution of that strategy.

Plan for competitions, including race preparation and post-race review.

Establish and oversee an off-season weight training, conditioning, endurance, and agility enhancement program.

Collaborate with MHS Athletic Administration to select and supervise qualified assistant coaches.

Ensure that all rules and regulations regarding conduct, safety, and eligibility are communicated and followed.

Communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with student-athletes, parents/guardians, the athletic department, administration, teachers, other coaches, officials, and opponents.

Maintain all required coaching certifications and district-mandated training.

Complete all required forms, reports, and documentation in a timely manner.

Uphold and enforce all CIF, league, district, and school policies.
Requirements / Qualifications
Prior coaching experience in cross country, track & field, or distance running (high school or collegiate level preferred).Knowledge of National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and CIF Cross Country and general regulations.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
