5376993 Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12 month, full-time position as Women's Basketball Assistant Coach. The Assistant Coach leads the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball program by recruiting and developing qualified student-athletes, supervising assistant coaches, and organizing schedules. The assistant coach must conduct the program in a manner that recognizes the primacy of academics by recruiting, supporting, and retaining student-athletes who will be competitive in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The assistant coach must ensure that the Women's Basketball program operates in compliance with all University, MAAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
Position Reports To:
Head Coach, Women's Basketball ?
Recruiting:
o Identify, evaluate, recruit student-athletes that meet Manhattan College standards in the classroom ?
On Court Coaching:
o Active participant in practice and have a voice that is consistent with our team goals. ?
Scouting:
o Prepare detailed scouting reports that prepare our coaching staff and our players to win o Demonstrate through film breakdown, on-court breakdown, and through team meeting what we need to do to win ?
Player Development:
o Prepare their skill position (guards) to compete at a championship level in the MAAC o Develop challenging workouts that increase skill o The goal at the end of the year is a significant improvement in their individual game o Significant improvement by the time student-athlete graduates ?
Academics:
o Monitor student-athletes academic group based on performance in the classroom (i.e. weekly meetings with freshmen and transfers, or under a 2.5 GPA; bi-monthly 2.5 GPA or higher) ?
Community Service:
o Participate in representing Manhattan College in Community Service projects ?
Alumni:
o Will create a Facebook page and a detailed contact list for the 200+ alumni we have in our program Will do a monthly newsletter highlighting an alum each month o Will work on organizing 4+ alumni events during the year ?
Marketing:
o Will assist the Assistant Director/Sports Communication in marketing our team and increasing our attendance at home games ?
Social Media:
o In charge of teams social media accounts o Monitor 5 student-athletes on the teams social media ?
Film Exchange:
o Oversee film exchange for our staff and be assisted by our Director of Basketball Operations. ?
Summer Camps:
o Will be the point of contact for upcoming summer camp o Be in charge of camp schedule o Hire staff to work camp o Promote camp ?
Scheduling:
o Work with the Head Coach to create a competitive schedule for the team to be successful in MAAC play and put us in position to be in postseason play ?
Summer School:
o Organize housing, gym time for practices, meal money and any other summer details. (Graduate Assistant will also assist) ?
JUCO Recruiting:
o Oversee our junior college recruiting and organize to have staff see the top athletes ? Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred. ? 4 + years of full-time prior experience at the Division I level. ? Assertive, outgoing, hard-working and resourceful. ? Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups. ? Ability to design marketing materials; proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Adobe Photoshop preferred. ? Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. ? Possess a valid driver's license. ? Required to travel and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. ? Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines. ? Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve. ? Ability to work effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration, alumni, and community.
