Assistant Dance Team Coach Moorpark High School Dance Team Moorpark, CA Job Details Part-time $2,500 - $4,500 a year 1 day ago Qualifications School experience Student supervision Teamwork Group choreography Team development Team training Student support Organizational skills Jazz dance Team motivation (leadership skill) Technical Proficiency Teaching Full Job Description Assistant Dance Team Coach - Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Dance Team Coach to support the head coach in developing a strong, well-rounded high school dance team. The ideal candidate will have experience across multiple dance styles, particularly pom, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical, as well as a passion for working with student dancers in both practice and performance settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach in planning and leading practices, warm-ups, conditioning, and technique training. Teach and reinforce proper dance technique, style, musicality, and performance quality across multiple genres. Support choreography and cleaning of routines for football/basketball games, school events, showcases, and competitions. Provide individualized feedback and corrections to help dancers grow in skill and confidence. Help monitor and maintain team standards for attendance, behavior, dress code, and overall accountability. Assist with organizing team logistics, including rehearsals, performances, competitions, and team events. Serve as a positive role model, fostering a supportive, disciplined, and team-oriented environment. Help manage and de-escalate conflicts while promoting respect and collaboration among team members.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience and technical proficiency in dance technique, pom, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. Ability to effectively teach and break down choreography for dancers of varying skill levels. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate closely with the head coach and contribute to a unified team vision. Positive, energetic approach to motivating and engaging student dancers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior coaching or teaching experience in a high school or studio setting. Experience working with middle school and/or high school-aged dancers. Familiarity with preparing teams for school performances, such as halftime routines, and dance competitions. Understanding of team culture development, including promoting school spirit, leadership, and sportsmanship.
