This role is specifically for instructors who can consistently service areas such as: Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, and nearby surrounding areas. If you are not based in or able to reliably commute to these areas, this role will not be a fit. This is a mobile position. You will travel to client homes, so reliable transportation and willingness to commute between lesson locations is required. We prioritize instructors who are already located in the San Fernando Valley, Glendale, Burbank, or Pasadena areas. Overview Lil' Guppies Swim School is a well-established mobile swim school that has been serving families across Los Angeles for over 20 years. We specialize in high-quality, personalized swim instruction delivered directly to our clients' homes. We work with students of all ages and skill levels, from infants as young as 4 months to adults, with a strong focus on water safety, confidence, and long-term skill development. We are looking for reliable, professional instructors who take pride in their work and enjoy working with families. Responsibilities Provide private, semi-private, and small group swim lessons (3+ students) at client locations (primarily at families' homes) Teach students of all ages and skill levels, including infants, toddlers, children, teenagers, and adults Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment Adapt lessons based on each student's pace, ability, and comfort level Focus on water safety, confidence-building, and skill development Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to families Communicate with clients and the team through online messaging platforms Maintain simple lesson notes and scheduling updates using shared tracking tools (Google Sheets) Arrive on time, prepared, and reliable for scheduled lessons (Optional) Provide lifeguard services for private events if certified Experience Experience working with students of all ages and abilities (instructional or educational setting preferred) Strong swimming skills and knowledge of strokes and technique Solid understanding of water safety and survival skills Comfortable working with all age groups, including infants Ability to manage small groups effectively Strong communication skills and a professional, friendly demeanor Reliable transportation (travel throughout Los Angeles required) Consistent availability, especially afternoons and weekends Responsible, punctual, and responsive Comfortable using online communication tools and basic platforms like Google Sheets Lifeguard certification is a plus (not required) Compensation & Growth $35-$60 per hour (based on lesson type, client structure, and scheduling) Consistent client opportunities based on performance Additional paid opportunities for lifeguard services Instructors with strong performance and availability receive priority access to new clients Opportunity to grow within the team over time Travel-based compensation adjustments are provided for lessons outside an instructor's primary service area, based on distance.
