Position Identification Field Detail Job Title Assistant Director of Coaching, U8-U10 (7v7) Organization Rocklin FC Department Competitive Program Reports To Director of Coaching Direct Reports None (functional oversight of U8-U10 head coaches and team managers within the age band) FLSA / Classification Non-exempt, part-time Hours 12-17 hours per week in-season (predominantly on-field; ~1-2 hours per week admin) Compensation $28-$35 per hour on field (based on experience and licensing); $17 per hour for admin duties Location Rocklin, CA 95765 — in person 2. Position Summary The U8-U10 Assistant Director of Coaching leads Rocklin FC's competitive 7v7 age group for both boys and girls — supporting head coaches, monitoring training and game environments, protecting roster health, and ensuring the U8-U10 player experience reflects U.S. Soccer's Foundation Phase priorities and Rocklin FC's club methodology. At U8-U10, the game is 7v7 with a build-out line, no heading, and no goalkeeper punting or drop kicks , and the developmental priority is individual development within the team context — ball mastery, both-footed comfort, 1v1 decision-making, and joy in the game. The ADOC keeps coaches anchored to these priorities and resists the natural pull toward results-first coaching at this age. 3. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Coach Support & Mentorship (≈35%) Serve as the primary point of contact and mentor for all U8-U10 head coaches and assistant coaches within the age group. Conduct at least one training observation per coach per month and attend a minimum of one game per team per month , with written or verbal feedback to the coach within 7 days. Support coaches with session design that aligns to Rocklin FC's club methodology and U.S. Soccer's U8-U10 Learning Plan — topic selection, training intensity, environment management, and coaching style appropriate for the age (guided discovery, Play-Practice-Play, age-appropriate questioning). Onboard new coaches to the age group and orient them to club expectations on professionalism, communication, and player management. B. On-Field Methodology & Standards (≈20%) Reinforce the U8-U10 game model in training and games: 7v7, build-out line, no heading, no goalkeeper punting/drop kicks, focus on individual development over team tactics. Promote multi-positional development so every player rotates through field positions over the course of a season, including goalkeeper exposure where appropriate. Champion the club's approach to playing time at this age, where developmental priority outweighs match outcome. Identify, model, and reinforce club standards on sideline behavior, coach professionalism, player conduct, and respect for officials. C. Roster Health & Player Mobility (≈15%) Monitor roster health across all U8-U10 teams (team size, attendance trends, training engagement, player progression). Track and recommend player mobility — movements between rosters, guest playing, and dual-roster recommendations — and submit all proposals to the Director of Coaching for approval. Co-lead U8-U10 tryouts and evaluation sessions; provide team-placement recommendations to the DOC. D. Parent & Family Communication (≈15%) Maintain a consistent, professional communication channel with U8-U10 parents and resolve routine concerns quickly — typically within 48 business hours. Serve as the first escalation point above the head coach for parent concerns within the age group; escalate to the DOC when matters involve policy, discipline, or coach performance. Lead a season-opening parent meeting for the U8-U10 age group covering club methodology, age-appropriate expectations, playing time philosophy, and what "good" looks like at 7v7. E. Standards, Safeguarding & Compliance (≈10%) Reinforce club standards on sideline behavior, coach professionalism, player conduct, and playing time policies. Verify that every U8-U10 coach and assistant on the field has current SafeSport, concussion (AB 2007), and sudden cardiac arrest (AB 1639) training, plus a current LiveScan and U.S. Club Soccer background check. Act as a mandatory reporter under California AB 506 and the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code; route any safeguarding concern to the DOC and the appropriate authority. F. Admin, Meetings & Reporting to DOC (≈5%) Attend weekly and monthly meetings with the DOC and the broader technical staff. Maintain a simple weekly log of observations, coach feedback, and roster-mobility recommendations shared with the DOC. Support the DOC with tournament selection and event-entry recommendations for U8-U10 teams. 4. Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience coaching in a competitive youth soccer environment, with strong working knowledge of the U8-U10 (7v7) game model. Experience in leadership roles or overseeing other staff members (formal or informal). Strong communication and conflict-management skills; calm and constructive under pressure with parents and coaches. Currently hold, or be willing to obtain within 18 months of hire, a U.S. Soccer C License. U.S. Soccer Grassroots 7v7 module (or willingness to complete within 60 days of hire). Current SafeSport Trained , CDC Heads Up Concussion , and Sudden Cardiac Arrest certifications (or willingness to obtain within 60 days). Successful completion of a LiveScan and U.S. Club Soccer background check . Strong organizational skills; self-motivated and reliable. Reliable transportation; some travel to games outside the Rocklin area is required. 5. Preferred Qualifications U.S. Soccer C License already in hand at time of hire. Prior experience as an age-group lead, technical director, or assistant DOC at a competitive youth club. Familiarity with Rocklin FC's club platforms (SportsEngine/SportNgin and/or comparable youth-soccer roster/communication tools). Bilingual English/Spanish. 6. Skills & Competencies Competency What "Excellent" Looks Like in This Role Mentorship Coaches feel supported, not surveilled; feedback after observations is specific, actionable, and lands well. Communication Parents and coaches consistently report clear, timely, professional communication; difficult conversations are had directly and respectfully. Methodology Fidelity Trainings across the age group look recognizably like Rocklin FC — same teaching points, same expectations of player behavior, same standards on the sideline. Developmental Mindset Resists results-first thinking at U8-U10; protects individual development, multi-positional exposure, and joy in the game. Organization Observations logged, mobility recommendations tracked, parent issues closed out — nothing falls through the cracks. Safeguarding Treats SafeSport, AB 506, concussion, and SCA compliance as non-negotiable; documents concerns and routes them correctly. 7.
