Job Description

Mark Day School seeks enthusiastic, dedicated middle school volleyball coaches to lead our eager 6th•8th grade athletes! The ideal candidate has a positive, encouraging demeanor, a passion for volleyball, and good sportspersonship. We hope to hire someone who can motivate individuals and maintain a team environment. Mark Day School's athletic program aims to develop well-rounded student-athletes with a focus on fitness, athletic skills, and teamwork. Assistant Coach Grade & Sport:
Gr. 6th, 7th and 8th
Volleyball Season Dates:
December•mid
March Practices:
Twice a week 3:30•5 pm
Stipend:
$1,000•$2,000 for the season (depending on experience)

Athletic Director•cfusco@markdayschool.org Responsibilities Coaches should set high expectations for responsibility, commitment, positive attitude, growth mindset, teamwork, and a sense of fair play Teach sports-specific skills, strategies, and techniques to develop students' individual and team abilities Teach student-athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques of the designated sport throughout the season They will uphold the Mission of the school and conduct themselves accordingly Mark Day School values•click here for more details on our mission statement, philosophy, and Seven Pillars of Character Ensure proper safety measures are observed when conducting team activities Coaches should demonstrate personal integrity, use appropriate language, and have professional relationships with student-athletes, refs, faculty/staff, and families. Coaches will assist in the total development of all student-athletes by using positive methods to create an ideal learning environment, therefore, helping them through their life journey, not just their athletic journey Coaches will create and implement a meaningful practice structure to enhance instruction, development, and effective use of time for all members of the team within the program Coaches will use a holistic approach when evaluating a student-athlete using qualities such as skill, character, integrity, leadership, coachability, and a love for the sport Coaches will foster an environment that will develop positive leadership qualities both on and off the field of play Involved in the academic performance of the student-athlete Follows league policies, site procedures, and rules Fosters training in conduct, ethics, and sportsmanship for all participants and coaches Experience and Qualifications Passion for coaching and teaching student-athletes Has previous experience working with middle-school-age students Experience motivating and inspiring children in an athletic setting Strong leadership skills with initiative, follow-through, organization, collaboration, and communication Patience, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations To Apply We look forward to working with you and most importantly rooting for you.
