Job Description

Company Description Santa Monica Sports Academy is a professional developmental youth sports organization specializing in baseball, and softball for co-ed participants of varying skill levels. The academy focuses on teaching young athletes how to play each sport correctly from the start, emphasizing strong fundamentals and progressive instruction. Coaches provide structured training that covers all aspects of the game, including equipment, rules, officials, and competition. The program is designed to build a solid foundation for elite play in youth sports while promoting confidence, discipline, and respect for the game. Role Description The Baseball Coach for Youth Sports Afterschool and Academy Training is a part-time, on-site role located in Santa Monica and Los Angeles, CA. The coach will lead age-appropriate baseball training sessions, teach core skills and fundamentals, and run drills that develop hitting, fielding, throwing, base running, and game awareness. Daily responsibilities include planning practice activities, supervising athletes during afterschool and academy programs, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment. The coach will communicate regularly with academy staff and families, reinforce academy guidelines, and model positive sportsmanship and behavior. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Coaching Baseball and Baseball skills, including knowledge of rules, techniques, and age-appropriate training methods. Candidates should possess Coaching and Training skills to design practices, develop instructional plans, and support athlete progression. Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to work with youth athletes, families, and academy staff in a clear and respectful manner. Experience coaching youth sports or working with children in educational or recreational settings is beneficial. Ability to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for participants of all backgrounds and skill levels. Basic first aid knowledge and adherence to safety protocols are preferred. Availability for afterschool and early evening hours, with reliable on-site attendance in Los Angeles, CA.
Youth Sports Instructor Requirements:
High school diploma. Completion of an applicable instructor's training program is advantageous. Experience as a credible, hands-on Sports Instructor, preferably for youth a plus. A history of commendable sporting achievement is considered a plus. Being a mentor, patience, and enthusiasm for the job. Polished verbal communication abilities. Must Pass Background Check. Must pass mandatory state Mandated Reporting test. Must have a current TB test. Must have reliable personal transportation
