Role Description The Sprints Coach - Track and Field is a part-time, on-site position located at Beckman Highschool in Irvine, CA. This role is responsible for planning and leading daily sprint training sessions, teaching proper running mechanics, and developing conditioning programs that align with student-athlete abilities and goals. The coach will design practice plans, monitor athlete performance, provide constructive feedback, and ensure safe use of equipment and facilities. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with other coaching staff, communicating with students and families, organizing meet preparation, and promoting academic and athletic balance for all participants. The coach is expected to model positive sportsmanship, support district policies, and maintain a safe, inclusive environment for diverse student-athletes. Qualifications Experience in Track and Field, with specific experience in sprints and preparing for competition. Strong Coaching skills, including mentorship, motivation, and the ability to develop age-appropriate training plans. Effective Communication skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and school administration. Ability to foster an inclusive team culture that supports diverse backgrounds and promotes positive behavior. Prior coaching experience in Track and Field is preferred but not needed.

Schedule & Commitment September:

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 6 hours per week Practice time: approximately 2:45 PM-5:00 PM Beginning in

October:

Practices expand to Monday-Friday , approximately 2:45 PM-5:00 PM. 12 hours per week Additional time may be required for track meets and other team responsibilities. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys working with teens and sees coaching as more than simply teaching a sport. We are looking for a coach who can mentor, motivate, and challenge athletes , while helping them develop discipline, confidence, and a strong work ethic.
