ORGL 5505
Sports and Coaching Leadership. This graduate-level course examines leadership within sports teams, organizations, and the broader sports industry. The lecturer will guide students in exploring ethics-based leadership models used in community, collegiate, professional, and Olympic sports contexts. Course topics include coaching and player development, media relations, marketing, negotiation strategies, sports and contract law, and venue management.

This is a fully online part-time appointment requiring strong instructor presence, timely communication, and effective facilitation of graduate-level learning in a distance-education environment. This appointment is for the Fall I term (August 20, 2026 - October 8, 2026). What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be The lecturer is responsible for delivering a high-quality online learning experience consistent with MSOL program standards.
Responsibilities include:
Course Design & Delivery:
Develop and maintain a complete, detailed syllabus with clear expectations for assignments, assessments, participation, and conduct. Ensure all course content, modules, and instructions are thorough, up-to-date, and aligned with measurable learning objectives. Teach the course using Canvas, the university's supported learning management system. Maintain an accurate, transparent Canvas grade-book and use rubrics or explicit criteria for evaluating student work. Provide a course introduction/tour video to orient students to course navigation and expectations. Communicate proactively with instructional designers regarding course development, revisions, and deadlines.
Student Interaction & Support:
Provide substantive interaction and ongoing feedback to all enrolled students. Respond to student questions within 48 hours (preferably sooner), as stated in the syllabus. Evaluate and return assignments with written and/or audio feedback within 3-5 business days. Encourage consistent engagement, timely submission of work, and open communication. Serve as a supportive point of connection between students and the MSOL program. What You Should Know This is a temporary, part-time appointment. The position will run through the Fall I term (August 20, 2026 - October 8, 2026). What We Can Offer Compensation for this temporary appointment is $6,159. A one-time course design payment of $2,500 will be provided for development of the online course and will be paid upon completion of the course. Professional experience in sports leadership, coaching, athletics administration, or sports-industry management. Experience teaching adult learners or working professionals in online space.
