Job Description

Assistant Recreational Gymnastics Coach —
Part-Time Compensation:
$21-$22 per hour
Location:
Gymtegrity Gymnastics & Cheer, 4720 Lima St., Denver, CO 80239
Openings:
1-2 Employment type: Part-time, in person Available class times: Monday-Friday between 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday between 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Bring the attitude. We'll help you build the coaching skills. Some outstanding coaches begin with years of gymnastics experience. Others begin as teachers, youth coaches, camp leaders, childcare professionals, cheer or dance instructors—or simply as people who have an unusual ability to connect with children. Gymtegrity is looking for dependable, positive and caring people who want to become excellent recreational gymnastics coaches. This is a developmental coaching position, but it is not a passive helper role. Assistant coaches are expected to prepare, participate, engage children, support teammates, accept feedback and take increasing ownership as their skills develop. You will initially work alongside an approved recreational coach and will not be assigned sole ownership of a class until you have been trained, observed and approved. What you will do Help create an exceptional class Learn and use athletes' names. Welcome children with enthusiasm and help them feel comfortable. Assist with safe, organized station setup and class preparation. Keep children actively engaged during transitions and rotations. Encourage athletes who are nervous, distracted or frustrated. Reinforce positive behavior and respectful class expectations. Lead warmups, activities and designated stations after receiving training. Observe athletes closely and provide appropriate encouragement and instruction. Help reset equipment and leave the coaching area organized. Learn how to coach—not merely supervise Learn Gymtegrity's curriculum, class structure and teaching language. Learn appropriate beginner-level gymnastics progressions. Observe experienced coaches and ask thoughtful questions. Practice giving simple, constructive coaching feedback. Apply feedback during the next class rather than waiting to be reminded. Develop toward independently leading designated recreational classes. Contribute to the family experience Greet parents warmly and professionally. Be approachable while remaining attentive to assigned athletes. Direct placement, progression, billing or complex parent questions to the appropriate leader. Communicate concerns rather than allowing them to be forgotten. Be a dependable teammate Arrive early enough to be fully prepared when class begins. Maintain a consistent recurring schedule. Communicate promptly when a legitimate emergency affects attendance. Help with reasonable shared responsibilities. Ask what is needed rather than waiting to be repeatedly directed. Treat coaches, children and parents with patience and respect. What we expect at every pay level Entry-level gymnastics experience does not mean entry-level effort. Every Gymtegrity coach is expected to: Show up when scheduled. Bring a constructive attitude. Care about every child—not only the most talented or outgoing athletes. Participate actively throughout the shift. Accept feedback without defensiveness. Communicate respectfully with parents and teammates. Follow through on responsibilities. Treat safety and professional boundaries as non-negotiable. This position may not be the right fit when someone: Frequently changes their availability. Treats recurring shifts as optional. Waits to be told every task that needs attention. Stands at a station without actively coaching. Becomes disengaged when a child or class is challenging. Is uncomfortable receiving direct performance feedback. Views recreational coaching primarily as babysitting. Emergencies and legitimate illness happen. However, children, families and coworkers are counting on the coach assigned to each class. Unexplained absences, no-call/no-shows and repeated avoidable last-minute changes are incompatible with this role. Qualifications Required Genuine interest in helping children learn and build confidence. Demonstrated reliability and follow-through. Positive and respectful communication. Ability to engage and appropriately redirect a group of children. Willingness to learn Gymtegrity's curriculum and coaching expectations. Ability to commit to an agreed recurring weekly schedule. Willingness to complete required role-specific, child-safety and emergency-response training. Helpful, but not required Gymnastics participation. Cheer, tumbling, ninja or dance experience. Youth-sports coaching. Teaching, paraprofessional, childcare or camp experience. Previous experience leading groups of children. Previous paid gymnastics-coaching experience is not required for an exceptional candidate who demonstrates reliability, initiative, energy, respect and a strong connection with children.
Schedule Classes are scheduled:
