The head coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the athletic team, including developing practice plans, strategizing for games, mentoring student-athletes, and promoting a positive team culture. The head coach ensures that the program aligns with the school's values and goals, fostering both athletic excellence and personal growth among student-athletes.ESSENTIAL
DUTIES andRESPONSIBILITIES
Understand and comply will all applicable district, state and federal guidelines, policies and laws. Develop team and individual player goals and maintains high expectations for both, including but not limited to: attend school, passing grades, attend practice and contests, exhibit good sporting behavior and citizenship. The program is an extension of the classroom. Supervise, direct and evaluate assistant coaches. The head coach is the coach for the entire program and has ultimate responsibility. Follow and enforce all regulations, policies, philosophies, and administrative directives as set by the Elbert County School District C-2. Complete and follow seasonal (preseason, season, summer) and daily practice schedules. Schedules will be available to the Athletic Director (AD) for each of the above-mentioned seasons. Plans in advance and prepares for each contest in an effort to put the team in the best possible position to be successful. Attend all practices and games, unless ill or with advanced notification and approval from the AD. Complete any district reports on conduct or injuries that occur under his/her supervision. Works with the Elbert County School District C-2's nurse to ensure the wellbeing and safety of each student-athlete. Equipment - Monitors safety of all equipment on a daily basis. Submits a list to the AD of supplies, equipment, and uniforms requests for the following season. Equipment - Cares for, inventories, and prepares all equipment, supplies, and uniforms for storage at the end of the season. Collects all equipment, supplies, and uniforms checked out to team members. Completes an itemized list and numbered inventory of equipment that needs replaced and what will carry over to next season. Help manage district athletic facilities including cleanliness of locker rooms, wrestling room, track and gym after each practice and game, and maintenance to ensure the well-being of student-athletes, students, families and staff. Collect money for clothing, equipment, or accessories sold to team members. Collect money for lost or damaged school property. Continue to grow as a coach; attends and participates in coaching clinics, takes coaching related courses, etc. Seeks to attain and maintain good public relations with student-athletes, students, parents, staff and fellow coaches. Active in fundraising to support the efforts of the team and athletic department. Uses SportsYou, designated by Elbert County School District C-2, to regularly communicate with student-athletes and families. Perform other duties as assigned. Check Elbert County School District C-2 issued email on a regular basis and respond in a timely manner.EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
Previous coaching experience in the specific sport or related fieldTECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
