Principal and Athletic Director Position Summary Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Head Baseball Coach to lead the high school baseball program. The Head Coach is responsible for fostering a positive, competitive, and educational athletic environment that promotes sportsmanship, skill development, academic success, leadership, and character among student-athletes. The Head Baseball Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all aspects of the high school baseball program. The coach serves as a positive role model and mentor while promoting athletic excellence, academic achievement, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive baseball program aligned with district and athletic department expectations. Promote a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Establish program goals and expectations for student-athletes and assistant coaches. Oversee all aspects of team operations during the season. Coaching and Player Development Plan and conduct effective practices focused on skill development, teamwork, conditioning, and game preparation. Teach proper baseball fundamentals and techniques. Develop game strategies and make in-game decisions that support team success. Monitor athlete growth and provide constructive feedback. Encourage multi-level program development to support future team success. Student-Athlete Support Promote academic achievement and monitor athlete eligibility. Foster leadership, character, responsibility, and good citizenship. Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes at all times. Support the social-emotional development of participants. Communication and Collaboration Communicate regularly with student-athletes, parents, administration, and athletic department personnel. Work collaboratively with assistant coaches and school staff. Attend required athletic department meetings and professional development opportunities. Represent the district and school positively within the community. Program Administration Maintain accurate team records, inventories, and equipment management. Assist with scheduling, transportation coordination, and program logistics. Submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with district policies, athletic department procedures, and CHSAA regulations. Safety and Compliance Maintain current coaching certifications required by CHSAA and the district. Enforce team rules and expectations consistently and fairly. Ensure safe supervision of athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities. Report injuries, incidents, and concerns according to district procedures. Preferred Qualifications Previous baseball coaching or related experience preferred. Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred. Knowledge of baseball fundamentals, safety standards, and team development. Required Qualifications Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes. Hold or be willing to obtain: CHSAA Coaching Certification CPR/First Aid Certification Ability to follow district policies and CHSAA regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, demonstrate athletic skills, and supervise practices and competitions for extended periods. Ability to lift and move athletic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Working Conditions Frequent evening, weekend, and holiday commitments during the baseball season. Travel required for contests and team-related activities. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and athletic field environments.
