What You'll Do:
As a YMCA Certified Swim Instructor, you'll provide high-quality swim and water safety instruction to children and adults at all skill levels. You'll create a fun, welcoming learning environment where participants feel safe, supported, and motivated.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruct group and private swim lessons for all ages and abilities Teach proper techniques, water safety, and stroke development Supervise participants closely to ensure a safe learning environment Build positive, encouraging relationships with swimmers and families Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively; administer first aid/CPR as needed Keep accurate records and communicate progress with participants or parents Uphold YMCA policies and ensure a positive, inclusive pool environment
What You Bring:
Red Cross or YMCA Swim Instructor Certification Current CPR/First Aid Certification Minimum 1 year experience working with children (in any setting) Confidence in the water: ability to swim, tread water, and demonstrate stroke techniques, instruct other in necessary and relevant skills Friendly, patient, and professional demeanor Strong communication and time management skills Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team More Than a Job - A Chance to Make a Difference When you teach at the Y, you're giving more than swim lessons, you're giving confidence, independence, and safety.
