Key Applicant Information:

Our hockey program is seeking an individual with exceptionally strong skating ability. This individual must have the ability to safely and effectively demonstrate complex skating movements. Applicants must be able to repeat these movements and demonstrate them consistently over ice sessions ranging from 1.5 hours to 4.5 hours in duration. Applicants should have the appropriate physical conditioning and stamina to coach these skating movements for the duration of a hockey season.

Background:

Cutting-edge hockey program is seeking an aspiring coach willing to work within our specific development approach. You will have the opportunity to work with experienced hockey professionals who have worked, played and coached at the professional, DI, DIII, prep and Junior levels in both Canada and the United States. Our group is actively trying to change how the game is offered to families and youth players aged 6 to 15. We employ a unique skating, puck handling methodology and a highly unique structure to our season designed to augment performance and familial outcomes. Candidates will be paid a flat fee for the year. The successful candidate will commit to a minimum of 1 (potentially up to 2) weeknights a week and up to 7+ hours on weekends based on the organizations ice schedule.

Duties:

Provide positive skills instruction and hockey development to players aged 6 to 15. Provide construcutive feedback and manage athletes on the ice in a firm and fair manner reflective of the programs desired objectives, culture and policies. Attend ice sessions on weekly basis from September through early March. Where necessary, design and lead practices for players of different age ranges. Where necessary participate as the assistant or head coach during competition. Collaborate and support all lead coaches. Assist in the evaluation of players at different points during the season. It is not about you. The kids and families come first. Realiably attend practices and games in the greater Hartford area.

Skills:

Exceptionally strong skating ability. We are seeking an individual with the ability to learn and demonstrate a wide range of skating-related skills, particularly edge work. For clarity, this role is likely to require you to demonstrate and explain complex and technical skating movements on the ice for up to 4.5 hours. To meet the skating requirements, the coach will need to have the appropriate fitness and stamina required to be able to consistently demonstrate safely and effectively over extended coaching segments. Ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with kids, parents and volunteer coaches. Ability to communicate hockey related concepts, techniques and strategies to a wide range of kids in manner that is both interesting and accessible. The ability to maintain control of the ice surface at all times when coaching players.

Other Considerations:

Preference shown (but not required) to those candidates with a background in hockey. Particularly those who have either competed or coached at the

NCAA DI, DIII

level or have competed and coached at the Founders Prep level. Strong preference shown to those candidates who have completed their undergraduate education.
