We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Middle School Dance Team Coach to help lead a growing dance team program serving students in grades 5-8 in New Canaan, Connecticut. This is an exciting opportunity to build something from the ground up while working with talented and motivated dancers in a positive, community-focused environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about dance, enjoys mentoring young athletes, and is excited to help shape the vision and culture of a new program. Responsibilities Plan and lead 1-2 weekly practices Choreograph and teach pom, jazz, kick, and/or dance team routines Prepare dancers for performances throughout the season Foster teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, and leadership Communicate with parents regarding schedules, performances, and team expectations Assist with program development and growth Collaborate on performance opportunities, community events, and team showcases Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive team culture Qualifications Dance team, pom, cheer, studio dance, collegiate dance team, or professional dance experience Previous coaching, teaching, or choreography experience preferred Strong background in pom, jazz, kick, or dance team styles Ability to work independently and take ownership of a growing program Strong communication and organizational skills Passion for mentoring middle school-aged dancers Schedule Part-time Primarily after-school hours and/or weekends Anticipated season runs August through March Approximately 1-2 practices per week plus performances Ideal Candidate This position is perfect for: Former high school or collegiate dance team members Current or former pom coaches Dance teachers looking to expand into dance team coaching Educators or fitness professionals with dance experience Individuals who enjoy building programs and creating opportunities for young dancers About the Program This program is designed to provide middle school dancers with a fun, supportive, and team-oriented experience that combines performance, school spirit, and skill development. Dancers will have opportunities to perform at community events, sporting events, and other local showcases while building friendships, confidence, and leadership skills.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
