Job Description

The Taft School is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the position of Head Coach for our nationally recognized Varsity Boys' Hockey team. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with talented student-athletes from diverse backgrounds, work at a prestigious independent school, and be part of a supportive professional community. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching games and practices, developing practice plans, overseeing assistant coach(es), creating programmatic and individual off-season development plans, assisting in college placement for student-athletes, collaborating with the admissions and college counseling offices, and maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders including families. This multifaceted role also allows the opportunity to combine coaching responsibilities with full-time teaching or administrative roles available for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Head Coach will play a pivotal role in shaping the hockey program's success, building player skills, fostering teamwork, and guiding student-athletes towards further academic and athletic success.
Specific Qualifications include:
Previous high-level coaching experience Strong interpersonal, communication, and professional skills Desire to work with engaged and motivated student-athletes Additional qualifications include: A demonstrated commitment to the tenets described in the school's Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Portrait of a Learner ; A bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience; The ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, employees, and other campus stakeholders to support and expand programmatic and institutional goals; and an interest in joining a residential community that serves a globally-inclusive student body. Authorized to work in the United States of America.
