Until Filled West Hartford Public Schools seeks a Freshman Baseball Coach for the spring season. Valid Connecticut coaching certification. Updated first aid/CPR training approved by Connecticut State Department of Education. Completion of Module 15 � Concussion Management Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program. Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of track.Reports to:
The athletic director, who provides a final evaluation to the principal.Primary Functions:
To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success while at the same time helping the athlete to achieve an increased level of self-esteem, an appreciation for the values of sportsmanship and discipline.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities. Is accountable for and assists the head coach in the issuing, collection, and storage of all equipment. Is responsible for knowing the existing state and league regulations and at all times abides by them. Assist the head coach and athletic director in scheduling contests and practices. Provides proper safeguards for maintaining and protection of assigned equipment sites. Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events and practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Makes recommendations to head coach for awards. Recommends to the head coach budgetary items for next year in his/her area of the program. Assist the head coach in explaining the team's training rules, "Code of Conduct", as stated in the student-athlete handbook, CIAC eligibility rules, and procedures for participation in athletics to all members of the team. Has thorough knowledge and implements the policies and procedures in the student-athlete handbook. Secure, maintain cleanliness and monitor athletes in all athletic work areas. Understand the proper administrative line of command and refer all student and parent requests or grievances through proper channels. Never criticizes, admonishes or argues with head coach or any staff member in the presence of players or parents. Is responsible for the actions and conduct of the athletes whenever they are under his/her jurisdiction. Is responsible for the general health and welfare of students in his/her sport and gives appropriate attention to athletes who are injured, ill or otherwise incapacitated. Attends all staff meetings and carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the head coach. Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and use. Assist the head coach in maintaining necessary paperwork, i.e. attendance records, inventory of uniforms and equipment, parent permission forms, etc� Maintains current Connecticut coaching certification with the State of Connecticut Department of Education.
