Fall 2026 (or immediately upon hire) About MacArthur High School MacArthur High School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and student-centered Head Boys Track & Field Coach to lead and grow our competitive track and field program. We are looking for a coach who is passionate about developing student athletes both on and off the track while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and sportsmanship. Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the Boys Track & Field program.
  • Must be able to get to 4530 MacArthur Blvd by 3:30pm Daily for practice
  • Must be able to get to 4530 Macarthur Blvd by 10:30am on Track Meet days
  • Conduct daily practices and prepare athletes for league, district, and state competition.
  • Develop training programs for sprint, distance, hurdle, jump, and throwing events.
  • Promote academic success, character development, and positive team culture.
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes within the school community.
  • Coordinate meet schedules, transportation needs, equipment, and uniforms with the Athletic Department.
  • Maintain compliance with DCIAA, DCSAA, DCPS, and MacArthur High School policies.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, school staff, and the Athletic Director.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and support staff.
  • Attend coaches' meetings, professional development opportunities, and athletic department events. Required Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience in track & field (high school, college, or club level preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of track & field training principles, event-specific coaching, and athlete development.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes and families.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to pass all required DCPS background checks and coaching certifications. Time Commitment Candidates must be available to arrive at MacArthur High School by 3:30 PM on practice days. Daily practices typically begin shortly after school dismissal and continue through the evening. Attendance at competitions, including evenings and occasional weekends, is required. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coaching multiple track & field event groups.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Experience working in diverse school communities.
  • Collegiate track & field participation and/or coaching experience.
