Since 2013, we have shared our love of soccer with children while teaching much more than the fundamentals of the game. Our mission is to help children discover how fun soccer can be. DC Way's passionate and qualified coaches create a positive, pressure-free environment that supports every aspect of a child's development—including physical, mental, social-emotional, and communication skills. As our club continues to evolve, we adapt our programs and coaching methods to ensure that the magic of the beautiful game never fades for our young players. The Position DC Way is looking for a motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic Recreational Soccer Coach to work primarily in our Saturday morning recreational league and Rec Program. This is not a travel-team coaching position. The focus is on introducing and developing fundamental soccer skills, creating a fun and inclusive environment, and helping children build confidence and a genuine love for the game. Some soccer experience is expected, either as a player or coach, but extensive coaching experience is not required. We are looking for someone who is open-minded, eager to learn, committed to improving, and able to connect positively with children. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn from DC Way's experienced professional coaching staff, including our Italian Technical Director, Coach Totti, who has a strong background working with renowned Italian football academies, including Palermo and Inter Milan. Essential Availability Candidates must be consistently available every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for our recreational league. Additional coaching opportunities may be available during weekday afternoons, after-school programs, school holidays, soccer camps, private lessons, and other DC Way activities. Responsibilities Coach children in DC Way's Saturday morning recreational league and Rec Program. Arrive on time and remain available for the full Saturday shift from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Deliver fun, energetic, and age-appropriate soccer sessions based on the DC Way curriculum and coaching philosophy. Teach fundamental soccer skills, basic game understanding, coordination, teamwork, and positive sporting behavior. Create a safe, inclusive, encouraging, and pressure-free environment for every child. Engage players with enthusiasm, patience, confidence, and clear communication. Adapt activities when children have different abilities, attention levels, or learning needs. Help players develop self-confidence, self-discipline, teamwork, good citizenship, and pride in their progress. Build positive and professional relationships with players, parents, guardians, and other DC Way coaches. Provide appropriate feedback and communicate participant needs to the coaching team. Set up, collect, distribute, and maintain soccer equipment. Follow DC Way's curriculum, policies, safeguarding standards, and program procedures. Attend required staff training and remain committed to ongoing learning and self-improvement. Coach all assigned recreational league games and sessions. Support additional DC Way programs when available and interested. Qualifications Some experience playing or working in soccer. Previous soccer coaching experience is preferred but not required. Genuine passion for soccer and working with children. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Positive, energetic, patient, and dependable personality. Willingness to study, receive feedback, and learn from experienced coaches. Ability to follow an established curriculum while bringing enthusiasm and creativity to sessions. Professional attitude and consistent commitment throughout the season. Reliable transportation to Capitol Hill, Washington, DC. English communication skills sufficient to coach children and communicate with families. Reliable Saturday availability from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. is required. Compensation and Benefits $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Flexible opportunities for additional coaching hours. Work Schedule Required:
