This exciting role offers the opportunity to shape a competitive team, foster a positive sports culture, and promote personal growth among players. You will be at the forefront of strategic game planning, team management, and athlete development, ensuring a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Your leadership will help elevate our women's basketball program to new heights while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success. Duties Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance players' skills in basketball and related sports such as cheerleading and climbing. Plan and execute game strategies, oversee practice sessions, and analyze team performance to improve overall competitiveness. Recruit talented student-athletes by evaluating skills, conducting tryouts, and fostering a welcoming environment for new team members. Promote a positive team culture through behavior management techniques, mentorship, and effective communication. Coordinate with athletic department staff to schedule games, tournaments, and community outreach events. Ensure compliance with all institutional policies, safety standards—including lifeguard protocols if applicable—and NCAA or league regulations. Support athletes' academic progress by collaborating with academic advisors and encouraging balanced commitments. Experience Proven experience in sports coaching with a focus on basketball or similar team sports; prior head coaching experience is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds while managing behavior and fostering teamwork. Knowledge of physical education teaching methods along with experience in martial arts such as karate or judo is advantageous for athlete discipline training. Background in health club or gym environments with familiarity in swimming, cheerleading, climbing, or martial arts enhances coaching versatility. Strong communication skills paired with experience in childcare or teaching physical education to young athletes or students. Certifications in lifeguarding or related safety procedures are a plus; experience working with children is highly valued. Ability to develop tailored training plans that incorporate sports coaching techniques alongside health and fitness best practices.
