Tennis Coach Florida Preparatory Academy - 2.9 Melbourne, FL Job Details Seasonal 1 day ago Qualifications School experience Teamwork Team development Working with students Teaching Full Job Description Position Summary Florida Preparatory Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Tennis Coach to lead and develop our Junior Varsity Boys Basketball program. The successful candidate will foster athletic, academic, and personal growth while teaching basketball fundamentals, developing team strategy, and building a positive, disciplined, and competitive culture. This position plays an important role in preparing student-athletes for advancement to the varsity program while serving as a positive role model both on and off the court.
Reports To:
Athletic Director Primary Responsibilities The Tennis Coach will: Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices throughout the season. Teach basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive concepts, and game strategy. Develop individual player skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and character. Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities. Maintain a safe environment and prioritize the health and well-being of all student-athletes. Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture. Work collaboratively with the Varsity coaching staff to support player development and program continuity. Communicate professionally with players, parents, school administration, faculty, and athletic department staff. Ensure compliance with Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), district, and school policies. Assist with game-day preparation, operations, and team strategy. Help coordinate schedules, practices, and team activities in collaboration with the Athletic Director. Recommend equipment purchases and assist with equipment inventory. Coordinate with athletic trainers regarding player injuries and return-to-play procedures. Verify athlete eligibility and assist with required athletic documentation. Promote Florida Preparatory Academy through positive relationships with students, families, and the community. Recognize and celebrate student-athlete achievements while encouraging academic success and personal accountability. Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications Qualified candidates should possess:
Previous tennis coaching experience and/or competitive playing experience at the high school, collegiate, AAU, or higher level preferred. Strong knowledge of tennis fundamentals, player development, practice planning, and game strategy. Working knowledge of FHSAA rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop young athletes in a positive and supportive environment. Commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, and academic excellence. Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, faculty, parents, and student-athletes. Ability to manage practices, games, travel, and team supervision responsibly. Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred. Successful completion of all required background screening and employment requirements.
