Job Description

Organization Description :
Florida State Garnet Girls is a D1 A Intermediate All-Girl Collegiate Competitive Club Cheerleading program founded in 2012, and based in Tallahassee Florida at the Florida State University. Garnet Girls is a highly accomplished and competitive team historically placing 3rd and 5th place at NCA College Nationals. Our organization is student led by an executive board, elected by last years team. In order to stay in good standing with the university, there are several requirements the team must fulfill. These requirements will be handled with the executive board but will require coach cooperation and sometimes attendance
Role Description and Responsibilities :
The position of head coach will be a year long role commitment. The head coach will be responsible for: Working directly with our executive board to ensure that we are competitive and prepared for all competitions and practices Direct tryouts, clinics, and practices according to schedules and plans discussed with the Executive Board Making mat decisions Attending and leading all team practices, competitions, and other related events in a way that exhibits the best interest of this team Creating functional and successful elite and pyramid stunt groups and stunt sections Adequately preparing athletes for competition Have an energetic and positive attitude and a willingness to shape us into the best team possible through our designated practices and conditioning sessions Traveling with our team to at least 3 competitions in the spring semester, one of them being NCA Nationals on April 7-11, 2027. If you cannot attend this competition, please let us know in your interview A coach, you are an integral part in choreographing and perfecting all skills in our Nationals routine. While full routine choreography is not the sole responsibility of our coaches, we expect that coaches will work with the team and choreographer to create stunt sequences, basic formations, and prepare for full routine choreography Practices in the fall (September-December) are Tuesdays and Thursdays on the FSU Campus from 8-10pm. A third and potentially 4th practice will be added in the Spring (January-April/May) for the same time amount, with date and times TBA. You will be paid per attended practice as determined by our Treasurer for your services, and competition expenses (room and board, registration fees) will be from Garnet Girls' annual budget Our organization is not fully funded by the university so there will be some out-of-pocket costs such as meals and travel expenses associated with competition, details of which will be given in advance.
Necessary Qualifications :
USA Cheer Membership Completion of the USA Cheer Safety & Risk Management Course, Athlete Protection Course, Concussion Awareness Training, background screening, waiver, and USA Cheer Code of Conduct agreement. have a thorough understanding of our NCA Nationals scoresheet Age 21 or over preferred
Duration :
Onsite September 2027 - April/May 2027 or longer if considered for rehire (same timeframe would apply) but needed virtual availability during the summer months for conversations and planning with the executive board
Pay:
$14.00 - $15.00 per hour
