Job Description

The Ames High School coaching staff is seeking an Assistant Girls Wrestling Coach for the 2026-27 season.
Work Schedule :
2-3 hours per day (4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m) Monday-Friday, with various nights and weekends during the season.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Supports the Head Wrestling Coach while instructing athletes about the fundamentals of wrestling. Attends all practices and has the ability to coach at an individual, small group and team level. Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. Communicates effectively with coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, and school administration. Participates in special events to include banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures. Abides by strict confidentiality at all times. Assists with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A current Iowa Department of Education coaching authorization. Experience coaching wrestling at the youth, middle school, or high school level preferred.
