Job Description

Position Summary The Esports Sponsor is responsible for developing, organizing, and supervising the district's esports program. The sponsor promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, digital citizenship, leadership, and competitive excellence while ensuring a safe and positive environment for student participants. The sponsor will coordinate practices, competitions, and program operations while representing the school district in a professional manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recruit and encourage student participation in the esports program. Organize and supervise regular team practices and competitive events. Develop player skills in communication, teamwork, strategic thinking, and game knowledge. Teach and reinforce positive sportsmanship, digital citizenship, and appropriate online behavior. Ensure all district technology and equipment are used responsibly and according to district policies. Coordinate competition schedules with state and local esports organizations. Register teams and students for competitions and tournaments. Supervise students during practices, competitions, and travel as assigned. Communicate regularly with students, parents, school administration, and activities staff. Maintain accurate participation records, eligibility information, and required documentation. Work collaboratively with technology staff regarding equipment, software, and network needs. Promote the esports program through school announcements, social media, and community outreach. Assist with fundraising opportunities when appropriate and approved by the district. Ensure compliance with all district policies, Iowa High School Esports Association (if applicable), and league regulations. Promote academic success by monitoring student eligibility and encouraging strong classroom performance. Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or Principal.
