Job Description
Middle School Baseball Coach - Two Positions Available
Highland Community School District is currently accepting applications for two Middle School Baseball Coach positions for the 2026-2027 school year.
Highland CSD is a small, student-centered school district serving approximately 620 students in grades PK-12. Highland Elementary is located in Riverside, Iowa, approximately 15 miles south of Iowa City, with Highland Secondary located nearby along Highway 218.
Position Responsibilities
The Middle School Baseball Coach will work cooperatively with school administrators and the Head Baseball Coach to provide a positive and developmentally appropriate experience for Highland student-athletes.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing a safe, positive, and supportive environment for student-athletes.
- Teaching fundamental baseball skills and promoting individual and team development.
- Working collaboratively with the Head Baseball Coach to maintain consistency throughout the Highland baseball program.
- Promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and fair play.
- Maintaining high expectations for student behavior and academic performance.
- Monitoring and supporting the academic success of student-athletes.
- Communicating effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaching staff, and school administration.
- Supervising student-athletes during practices, games, transportation, and other team activities.
- Following Highland CSD policies, procedures, and expectations for athletic programs.
- Qualifications
- Candidates should have a strong interest in working with middle school student-athletes and helping develop the Highland baseball program. Previous baseball playing or coaching experience is preferred.
- Candidates must meet all State of Iowa coaching authorization/licensure requirements prior to coaching.
