Job Description
Summary Gooding High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as an Assistant High School Football Coach. The ideal candidate will support the head coach in all aspects of the football program, fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This role requires a commitment to the development of players both on and off the field, promoting teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Responsibilities Assist the head coach in planning and executing daily practice sessions, game strategies, and overall team development. Support the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, encouraging participation in the football program. Provide instruction and guidance to players on fundamental skills, techniques, and game strategies. Collaborate with the coaching staff to develop and implement training programs that enhance player performance and fitness. Monitor and assess player progress, providing constructive feedback to foster improvement. Assist in organizing and managing team events, including games, practices, and community outreach initiatives. Ensure compliance with all school policies, district regulations, and governing body rules related to high school athletics. Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, accountability, and sportsmanship among players. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and player development. Attend all coaching meetings, training sessions, and relevant professional development opportunities to stay current with coaching techniques and strategies. Requirements Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, strategies, and rules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes. First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified time frame. Must pass a background check and comply with all school and district policies. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for practices and games.
