TITLE:
Extracurricular Coach SUMMARY:
Provide knowledge, motivation, and leadership in an activity where the student can excel to his/her full potential while competing in an atmosphere that adds to his/her total education including physical wellbeing, moral character, and social and mental development
REPORTS TO
Athletic Director, Building Principal
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteers, Students
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Proven ability to work with students, coaches, administrators and parents
One year experience coaching specific sport or participation in a college or high school program specific to that sport, and multiple years playing at Varsity or College level.
Current CPR and First Aid certification, concussion certification, and cardiac arrest certification.
DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES
Team supervision:
- Insure appropriate team conduct at practices, contests and during transportation.
- Be present at all practices and contests with the team and remain at the practice/contest until all participants have left the facilities, including after road games.
- Teach and practice good sportsmanship in regard to opponents, officials, team members, coaches and spectators.
- Maintain accurate records of necessary forms for eligibility.
- Report rules violations or suspected violations to the Athletic Director.
Public Relations - Ensure all participants, including players, coaches, administrators, and parents shall provide a positive image of school athletics.
- Refrain from making negative remarks in public. Assistant Coach should support the school and athletic programs.
- Show respect for opponents and display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat.
General - Continue professional growth by attending classes, clinic, workshops and through affiliations with professional organizations.
- Support Administration and established policies and procedures.
- Promote district program and recruits participants at all levels.
- Maintains a professional manner at all times
- Use of alcohol, drugs and tobacco products in the presence of athletes is strictly prohibited.
