Job Description

Payette School District is accepting applications for the following coaching position for the 2026-2027 school year: Head Girls Basketball Coach - Payette High School Position Purpose The Head Girls Basketball Coach supports the development of high school student-athletes by fostering skill development, positive attitudes, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Emphasis is placed on age-appropriate instruction, participation, and the development of lifelong habits of physical activity, responsibility, and respect. Goals Support the physical, social, and emotional development of high school student-athletes Teach fundamental basketball skills appropriate for varying ability levels Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for self and others Provide positive role modeling and encouragement Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive athletic environment Major Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership and Administration Provide overall leadership, organization, and supervision of the girls' basketball program. Supervise and support assistant coaches while ensuring consistent program expectations and compliance with district and activity association requirements. Serve as the primary coordinator for program operations, parent communication, budgeting, equipment management, fundraising, and program development. Develop and maintain a comprehensive girls basketball program that supports athlete growth from youth through high school by collaborating with youth coaches, promoting participation, coordinating feeder program activities, and providing off-season skill development opportunities consistent with district and activity association regulations. Coordinate and support youth camps, clinics, and other basketball development opportunities designed to increase student participation and strengthen the girls' basketball program Coaching Responsibilities Attend and supervise all practices, contests, team meetings, and required school-related activities. Organize and conduct practice sessions that emphasize skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, participation, and safety. Instruct student-athletes in basketball fundamentals, individual skill development, and team concepts appropriate to their level of competition. Supervise student-athletes during competitions and ensure appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and adherence to team expectations. Serve as the primary communication liaison between coaches, student-athletes, families, administration, and the Athletic Director. Conduct preseason parent meetings and communicate program expectations, schedules, participation requirements, and team policies to families. Monitor student participation, attendance, effort, and academic eligibility throughout the season. Coordinate transportation, scheduling, and event logistics with the Athletic Director. Ensure student safety at all times and oversee the proper use, care, inventory, and storage of equipment and uniforms. Coordinate fundraising activities in accordance with district bookkeeping and purchasing procedures. Comply with federal and state law, administrative rules, Board policy, district procedures, and activity association regulations related to student-athlete participation and safety, including concussion protocols. Ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements, including academic standing, physical examinations, and required participation documentation. Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes inclusion, responsibility, growth, and respect. Model professionalism, positive behavior, leadership, and effective conflict resolution. Maintain clear expectations for conduct, attendance, sportsmanship, and fair play. Follow district athletic guidelines and activity association standards.
