Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our cheerleading program at South Hills Middle School as an Assistant Cheer Coach. This seasonal position involves supporting the Head Coach in planning and executing cheerleading practices, performances, and competitions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cheerleading, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all team members. Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in planning and organizing cheerleading practices and events. Help instruct cheerleading techniques, routines, and stunts to team members. Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude among cheerleaders. Attend all practices, games, and competitions, providing support and guidance to athletes. Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop practice schedules and game plans. Monitor the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and events. Assist in the selection and organization of uniforms, equipment, and supplies. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules and team activities. Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes personal growth and skill development. Help with fundraising and community outreach efforts to support the cheerleading program. Requirements Previous experience in cheerleading, coaching, or a related field is preferred. Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, routines, and safety practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and other staff members. First Aid/CPR certification is a plus. Must pass a background check and adhere to all school district policies. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the season. This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411. All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon Board approval and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening. All applicants who are being offered employment with the District must test free of drugs and alcohol as a condition of employment.
