This role involves coaching a group of freshman players, promoting sportsmanship, and creating a positive and inclusive environment for all participants. Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
- Develop and implement game plans for competitions, ensuring players understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Provide instruction on the fundamentals of basketball, including shooting, dribbling, passing, and defensive techniques.
- Foster a positive and supportive team culture that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
- Monitor and evaluate player performance, providing constructive feedback to enhance individual and team skills.
- Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff to align training and development strategies across all levels of the girls basketball program.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and games, adhering to school and athletic policies.
- Attend all scheduled games and support the team during competitions.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of players for the program. Requirements
- Previous coaching experience or a strong background in basketball, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and training techniques.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, players, and school staff.
- A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or the willingness to obtain certification.
- Must pass a background check and adhere to all school district policies and procedures.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends for practices and games.
