- Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
- Coach and mentor freshman players during practices and games, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Organize and conduct tryouts, ensuring a fair and inclusive selection process.
- Collaborate with the head coach and other coaching staff to align on team goals and strategies.
- Monitor the academic and athletic progress of players, promoting a balanced approach to sports and education.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, hard work, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
- Attend all practices, games, and team meetings, and fulfill any additional duties as assigned by the head coach.
- Assist in the organization of team events, fundraisers, and community outreach initiatives. Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or youth level, is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and build positive relationships with players, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must pass background checks and comply with all school and district policies regarding coaching and athletics.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred but not required at the time of hiring.
- A commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
